Navy Represented at Canadian Seniors Championship

January 29, 2008

All Members,

50/50 tickets

It is with great pleasure that I announce (if you have not already heard) that Navy Curling Club will be represented at this years 2008 Canadian Seniors Curling Championship held in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan from March 22-30.

Team Delaney, consisting of Bruce Delaney (skip), Rick Bachand (3rd), Duncan Jamieson (2nd) and George Mitchell won the Ontario Dominion of Canada Senior Mens. It was a tough battle as four teams finished the round robin with 5-2 wins record; with Bruce Delaney defeating Jim Lyle in a close notch final with a score 4-2 by blanking many ends and keeping team Lyle down to only two points.

For the second time in three years, team Delany heads to the Canadian Seniors Curling Championship. In the teams first appearance they performed strongly, but failed to qualify for the playoffs after a close knit group of three finished with similar records. The team hopes to build upon the experience gained in their first appearance to clinch a playoff berth in a quest for the championship and to represent Canada at the World Senior Curling Championships held in New Zealand in 2009.

This is chance to show your support for the team and club. Navy Curling Club wishes to support the team and urges all members to purchase 50/50 tickets to raise money to assist the team in some of its expenses that are incurred in attending the championship. Tickets can be purchased at the bar at a cost of $2 each or 3 for $5. Again please support the team, the club and dont forget to show you pride when Bruce, Rick Duncan and George take to the ice.

Wish them Luck!
