On 24 September 2009, the Day Ladies hosted a luncheon to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the formation of an RCN Ladies Division.
There were 65 attendees in all, which included 21 Past Presidents as well as Maureen Harris, current RCN Club President.
Each Past President was presented with a small corsage when they arrived and a group photo was taken by Tom Alfoldi.
Ken Waterman, Dennis Murphy, Steve Lonsdale, Ron Dufour and Pat Paterson as well as Jacqui Storey were our servers for the catered luncheon.
Each attendee was provided with a brochure listing the names of all the Past Presidents as well as a brief historic background and some highlights of notable accomplishments of former teams.
Carol Duxbury, Past President 2006/08 said "Curlers Grace" and Maureen Harris did an opening "Toast" to the Presidents. Maureen also thanked the Day Ladies for a job well done at the Opening Cocktail party, which was held on September 10.
Sandy Paterson, President 2009/10, welcomed everyone and during a short address, introduced all the Past Presidents in attendance, adding some personal comments and congratulating members for past achievements.
Isobel Paddon, Past President 1960/62, provided some comical remarks about the early days of the Club and, on behalf on the curlers, congratulated the 50th Anniversary Committee for a successful and enjoyable function.
Attending Past Presidents were given a souvenir copy of the group photo, taken earlier.
None of this could have taken place without the untiring efforts of the 50th Anniversary Committee - Nancy Morris, Joy Dufour, Carolyn Murphy, Penny Rae-Keyes, Heather Lonsdale and Lois Graham for undertaking this huge task.
THANK YOU!!!
