Men's Fixed Playoffs

Playoff Rules

  1. The Men's Fixed Handicap Event is a single knockout event.
  2. Initial game match-ups will maximize play between teams who do not normally play against each other.
  3. A handicap will be applicable where teams are not ranked in the same flight. The handicap will be 1 rock per difference in the flight. e.g. A-flight team playing against a D-flight team the handicap will be 3 rocks. B-flight team playing against a C-flight team the handicap will be 1 rock.
  4. Your flight is shown on the first game of the schedule and remains the same throughout the event, regardless of who you beat.
  5. Toss for last rock advantage or colour of rocks. The team that wins the toss can choose either the colour of the rocks or whether to take the hammer. If the team that wins the toss chooses the colour of the rocks the team that loses the toss will then choose whether to take the hammer. If the team that wins the toss chooses whether to take the hammer, the team that loses the toss will then choose the colour of the rocks.
  6. Ties will be broken by Skips throwing to the button with offensive team sweeping only.
  7. The club time rule is to be observed.

Rules for Spares

The following rules concerning eligibility of spares for Handicap Event games will apply.

  1. A team must have at least two permanent members playing.
  2. A permanent member of the team will not be demoted to an earlier position. (e.g. A spare will not play 3 and the regular rd 3rd then play 2nd or lead. A regular 3rd may move to skip and a spare substituted as 3rd.)
  3. If a proposed spare plays skip on a team in the Evening Men's Fixed League and he is to play skip, any handicap would be adjusted to reflect any higher ranking of that spare. (e.g. If an A flight skip is going to play skip for a C flight team, the handicap for the team would be based on the spare's A flight ranking. However, if a C flight skip is going to play skip for an A flight team, the handicap for the team would still be based on their A flight ranking.)
  4. If a proposed spare does not participate in the Evening Men's Fixed League and he is to play skip, any handicap for the team would be adjusted to reflect an A flight ranking.(e.g. If the proposed spare is going to play skip for a C flight team as a spare, the handicap for the team would be based on an A flight ranking.) For the purposes of these rules, a skip is one who calls the strategy for the game or throws 4th stones.
